Supporting British Manufacturing

One of the things we are most proud of is the fact that we are still providing employment to a group of skilled workers in an industry that, on the evidence of elsewhere in the UK, looks to be heading towards extinction. Sourcing from a British textile manufacturer means that you are actively helping to keep jobs alive and ensures that the money you pay for products is then reinvested directly back into the UK economy.

We would never suggest that you chose a product simply because it was made in Britain. However when there is a British company producing products that are 'fit-for-purpose' which are comparable [or technically superior] to those on offer from an overseas supplier - and who are able to offer a similar, if not better, level of service - then we believe that WHERE the product is made should be a genuine consideration.

We certainly take that view [and 'practice what we preach'] when it comes to sourcing products and services and ensure that we work with British companies whenever and wherever it is possible and practical.

There are also major advantages of sourcing clothing from a British company in terms of:

  1. Reliability. It is obviously easier logistically to deal with a 'local' company as there are fewer things to go wrong [no customs, no shipping issues, no time zone differences] and when they do - which occasionally they inevitably will when dealing with the unique challenges of customised clothing - they can then be sorted out quicker and easier.
  2. Value for money. In spite of how it is portrayed, garments from foreign manufacturers are normally more expensive not because of the quality of the product but because of the air freight and the agents fees.
  3. Environment . No matter how 'green' a company claims to be in terms of its processes, the negative impact - in terms of the carbon footprint - of flying garments several thousand miles [unnecessarily when there is a credible British alternative] is considerable.
